I miss you all!!!! Keep checking back as I keep updating my site. Google Classroom sites are in process and will go live when they are complete.
What is happening in the Music Room (classroom and virtual)? All classes are learning about rhythm. We speak, clap, read, and write rhythm using various note and rest values.
Also, all classes are learning how music is used to help us focus, be still, and have a few quiet moments. We listen to a different example of calm, peaceful music each day.
Kindergarten We are learning about keeping a steady beat and how music helps tell stories. We have lots of fun dancing and moving our bodies. We sing about "Ants in My Pants" and being "Busy as a Mouse" and have dancing and movements to go with it.
First Grade We have been learning about how we are a community and music is part of our community. We hear and use music all around us. Two songs we learned about community are "I'm so Glad to be Here" and "Let Us Sing Together." We also learned about penguins and how to walk and dance like a penguin.
Second Grade Earlier in the year we learned about how animals are represented through music. We also learned about fairy tales and fables and how music is used in stories, as well as how music can tell a story. More recently we have been learning to sing songs about animals, such as a lion and a turtle. We also learned a song from a fairy tale movie, Tangled.
Third Grade We are learning about music around the world. We are learning a song from Japan (Yuki, which means "snow") and another in Swahili (Sikiliza, which means "listen"). We also learned a song from Australia and how to sing two parts at one time.
Fourth Grade We are getting ready for our Symphony trip in the spring by learning about the various elements of music, composers, and the specific music selections the NC Symphony will play on the concert. We are even learning to sing one in English and Spanish!
Fifth Grade We are learning about musical theatre! We learned about how musicals got started, and how they changed over time. We also are learning about the physical and athletic side of musical performance.
